Dennis Smith Jr. (illness) reportedly out for Mavericks until at least Tuesday
Dallas Mavericks point guard Dennis Smith Jr. (illness) is expected to remain out until at least Tuesday's home game against the Los Angeles Clippers, reports Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
MacMahon says Smith isn't expected to join the team on their upcoming two-game road trip against the Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks, but that the two sides have had "productive communication" amidst persistent rumors that Dallas is trying to deal the second-year guard. “When he’s feeling better, he’s welcome to rejoin the team at any time," head coach Rick Carlise said Friday. "We would love to have him back.” DSJ hasn't played since January 7, leading to more opportunity for Jalen Brunson and Maxi Kleber.
DSJ is averaging 23.6 FanDuel points through 28 games, with 12.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 3-pointers per contest.
