Pistons pondering the acquisition of D.J. Augustin from Thunder

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard D.J. Augustin is reportedly being considered as a trade candidate by the Detroit Pistons.

What It Means:

The Pistons are seeking to add a veteran point guard to the roster after shipping away Brandon Jennings to the Orlando Magic, which is a pretty good indication coach Stan Van Gundy would prefer someone other than Steve Blake act as Detroit's primary backup behind Reggie Jackson. Darren Collison and Mo Williams are also potential targets, but none of these guys would be worthwhile standard league assets as Jackson's backup.

Through 34 games, Augustin is inside the top 100 with a -1.0 nERD this season. He's averaging 15.3 minutes a night while putting up just 4.2 points and 1.9 assists per game on 38.0 percent shooting from the field.
