Nurse: 76ers' Joel Embiid (knee) expected to return Wednesday

Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse told media members Sunday that he expects Joel Embiid (knee) will play in Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game.

What It Means:

Embiid sat out the 76ers' season finale while he continues to manage his knee injury, but Nurse implied that his absence on Sunday was more precautionary than out of concern. Barring any setbacks, he should supplant Mo Bamba in the starting five on Wednesday.

Embiid was putting up MVP-caliber numbers again prior to his injury this season, and still averaged 30.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game in the 5 games he played following his return. He will be critical to Philly's playoff hopes this postseason.
