Browns' Barkevious Mingo gaining weight to add power

Cleveland Browns outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo has bulked up from 240 pounds to 260.

What It Means:

With only two sacks in 31 games since his rookie season, Mingo is trying to get stronger and harder to block. The downside of bulking up, of course, is that it could sap his speed and athleticism. Mingo has clearly decided it's worth the trade off as he tries to save his stalled career. It's not a given Mingo cracks the 53-man roster, while a camp trade is another possibility. On the bright side for Mingo's 2016, he's reuniting with defensive coordinator Ray Horton, who oversaw his decent rookie campaign.

The 2015 Browns ranked 21st in the league in Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) and 32nd in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP as a unit.
