Baker Mayfield (torn labrum) ruled out for Browns versus Broncos
Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has been ruled out for Week 7 against the Denver Broncos on Thursday night due to a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
Mayfield will miss the first start of his NFL career after aggravating his shoulder injury last week. He was optimistic about being able to play through the issue on Thursday, so Mayfield seems to have a chance to return for Week 8 after some additional rest. Case Keenum will replace Mayfield under center and make his first start since he was with Washington in 2019. It isn't necessarily a downgrade for Cleveland's offense, considering Mayfield's health and recent play, but they will also be without Nick Chubb (calf) and Kareem Hunt (calf). Odell Beckham (shoulder) is hoping to be a game-time decision.
The Broncos are allowing the second-fewest FanDuel points per game to the quarterback position this season and they rank 15th in Adjusted Passing Net Expected Points allowed per drop back. Keenum has a $5,000 salary on FanDuel for Thursday's one-game slate.
