Giants' Sterling Shepard (hamstring) may have suffered setback
New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard may have suffered a setback with his hamstring injury, per SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.
Shepard was downgraded to a limited practice on Thursday and Giants head coach Joe Judge expressed uncertainty about the receiver's status for Week 7 against the Carolina Panthers. Vacchiano says it "sounds like" Shepard suffered a setback, so he may have tweaked something during practice. Shepard led the entire NFL with 14 targets last week in his first game back from injury. Kadarius Toney (ankle) and Kenny Golladay (knee) haven't practiced all week, possibly leaving the Giants with Darius Slayton (hamstring), Dante Pettis, John Ross (hamstring), and Collin Johnson at wide receiver.
Shepard is averaging 11.0 targets in his three healthy games this season. The Panthers are allowing the fifth-fewest Adjusted Passing Net Expected Points per play and they rank 11th in FanDuel points allowed per game to the wide receiver position.
