Jabaal Sheard is likely to start for Patriots at defensive end
New England Patriots defensive end Jabaal Sheard is expected to take over as the Patriots' starting right end.
What It Means:
The job is Sheard's to lose following the Chandler Jones trade to the Arizona Cardinals. After signing a two-year, $11 million contract with the Patriots last spring, Sheard was borderline dominant as a sub-package player last season.
Sheard generated eight sacks and 45 hurries on 566 snaps in 2015 for the Patriots' 12th-ranked defense, by Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points (NEP) per play.
