D'Andre Swift (ankle/shoulder) not seen practicing for Lions

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift (ankle/shoulder) was not seen at practice on Wednesday during the portion open to the media.

What It Means:

Lions head coach Dan Campbell said earlier this week that Swift is not yet back to full health. He popped off for 175 yards and a touchdown on 18 touches in the season opener, but Swift has only made three limited appearances since. He played last week for the first time since Week 3 and had 10 touches for 33 yards and a score. The Lions traded away T.J. Hockenson on Tuesday and conceded that they are "still in the build phase," so they will likely take a cautious approach with Swift and allow him to fully recover. Jamaal Williams will handle most of the backfield work if Swift is sidelined on Sunday versus the Green Bay Packers in Week 9.

numberFire's models currently project Swift for 13.9 touches and Williams for 14.0 touches in Week 9. Williams averaged 17.0 touches and 82.7 yards in three full games without Swift. The Packers have a run-funnel defense, according to our adjusted team metrics, as they rank 10th against the pass and 25th versus the run.
