Smith: Falcons 'feel good' about Kyle Pitts' (knee) health

Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith said of tight end Kyle Pitts (knee) that the team "feels good about where he’s at."

What It Means:

Pitts suffered a season-ending knee injury and missed the final seven games of the season, but it looks like he should be back on the field for Week 1 of the 2023 season. His usage frustrated fantasy managers last year, who drafted Pitts highly after his uniquely promising rookie campaign.

Pitts became one of the few tight ends in NFL history to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards as a rookie, but was nearly a non-factor in the Falcons' offense in 2022. He averaged just 2.8 receptions for 35.6 yards per game as a sophomore. He and then-starter Marcus Mariota were not in sync last year, but Pitts will have an opportunity this summer to establish a connection with new quarterback Desmond Ridder.
