De'Von Achane (shoulder) week-to-week for Dolphins

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane is week-to-week with a shoulder injury, per head coach Mike McDaniel.

What It Means:

Achane was carted to the locker room during Saturday's preseason game after an offensive lineman fell on him. He avoided a serious injury and should be able to return for Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers, but the injury could limit Achane's early-season usage. The third-round pick has been competing for reps in camp with Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, Myles Gaskin, and Salvon Ahmed.

Achane has rushed 16 times for 52 yards and caught 4 passes (4 targets) for 41 yards in two preseason games. He's currently the RB39 in numberFire's preseason rankings and our models project him for 134.7 carries, 568.6 rushing yards, 38.7 targets, 28.2 receptions, 198.5 receiving yards, and 4.86 touchdowns. Mostert (RB43) is projected for 113.4 carries and 21.3 catches, but none of the other Dolphins backs are in our top-50.
