Vikings' Kirk Cousins (Achilles) will miss remainder of season
The Minnesota Vikings announced that quarterback Kirk Cousins suffered a torn Achilles tendon during the team's Week 8 win over the Green Bay Packers.
The Vikings bested a division rival in Week 8, but lost their franchise quarterback in the process; Cousins suffered an Achilles injury during the victory and will now miss the remainder of the season. The veteran quarterback has been playing top notch football this season with his 18 passing touchdowns tying for the most in the NFL. His absence will be a massive blow to Minnesota's chances at a playoff run this year.
Cousins' 18 touchdowns are tied with Tua Tagovailoa's for the most in the NFL, while his 2,331 passing yards rank second. He's been keeping the Vikings' offense afloat even with superstar Justin Jefferson (hamstring) sidelined and has kept them (at 4-4) in the race for the NFC North. The Vikings turned to rookie fifth-round pick Jaren Hall to close out their Week 8 win but have yet to announce an official starter for Week 9.
