Rapoport: Tim Boyle taking over as Jets starter Week 12
The New York Jets announced that Tim Boyle will be their starting quarterback for their upcoming Week 12 game against the Miami Dolphins.
Boyle replaced incumbent start Zach Wilson partway through the team's Week 11 loss to the Buffalo Bills after the former second-overall pick struggled to just 81 yards on the day. It's unclear whether or not Boyle will be an actual upgrade over Wilson, but it's a chance the 4-6 Jets need to take if they want to keep their playoff chances alive.
Boyle completed 7 of 14 passes for 33 yards and an interception in relief of Wilson but will hopefully have time to practice with his new team during the week as they prepare for Friday's game. The veteran backup made 3 starts for Detroit back in 2021, resulting in 526 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions on 61 of 94 passing attempts.
