Lions will keep using Golden Tate near line of scrimmage
Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate will continue to be used around the line of scrimmage, expects Lions' team reporter Tim Twentyman.
After averaging 13.3 yards per catch in his first four years in the league with the Seattle Seahawks, Tate saw that clip fall to 9.0 in 2015 during his first campaign with the Lions. That trend continued in the first game of this season, as Tate finished with just 5.9 yards per catch against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. His yardage will be capped in this role, but the high-volume provides Tate with great PPR value. Marvin Jones is the better option in standard formats.
We project Tate to catch 6-of-8 targets in Week 2, finishing with 63 yards and 0.33 touchdowns. He ranks 99th in Reception Net Expected Points per target after the first week of the season.
