J.J. Wilcox, Buccaneers share mutual interest
Dallas Cowboys impending free agent defensive back J.J. Wilcox and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers share mutual interest, reports ESPN's Jenna Laine.
Wilcox would provide a sizable upgrade at safety for the Buccaneers, who started impending free agents Chris Conte and Bradley McDougald in the defensive backfield last season. Per Pro Football Focus, Wilcox graded out as the 24th-ranked safety out of 91 qualifiers in 2016. Keith Tandy is expected to start at one of Tampa Bay's safety spots.
The Buccaneers were seventh-best last season in Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points allowed per play. Dallas finished 17th in the same metric.
