Eagles ink Timmy Jernigan to four-year extension
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Philadelphia Eagles have signed defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan to a four-year, $48 million extension.
Schefter reports that the deal involves $26 million in guaranteed money. The Eagles had obtained Jernigan in a minor trade with the Baltimore Ravens, but they've turned the 25-year-old into a force on the inside of the defensive line. He's now locked down through the 2021 season.
Jernigan has accounted for 11 tackles and 2 sacks while rating out as Pro Football Focus' 16th-ranked defensive lineman in all of the NFL through 9 games. He's projected for 15.2 tackles, 1.7 sacks and 0.3 forced fumbles over the remainder of the 2017 season.
