Wayne Simmonds draws two assists, Flyers top Capitals

Philadelphia Flyers winger Wayne Simmonds assisted on both of the goals scored during a 2-1 victory over the visiting Washington Capitals Wednesday night.

What It Means:

The Flyers were able to prevent a Washington sweep and now trail this first-round playoff series 3-1. Rookie defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere, who turned 23 Wednesday, scored his first Stanley Cup Playoff goal. Andrew MacDonald also scored for the Flyers, who held a 2-0 lead after two periods. Simmonds, who enjoyed a first-rate regular season with 30 goals and 60 points, picked up his first points of the postseason.

Simmonds posted the best possession numbers of his career this season. Both his Corsi For Percentage (52.8) and Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength (3.4) are career-high clips.
