Daily Fantasy Golf Helper: WGC-HSBC Champions

By now, you've probably dabbled in daily fantasy sports, but if not, don't worry. Now is a great time to start, especially with FanDuel now offering a revamped version of PGA golf.

Golf can be one of the most exciting DFS sports to follow, as tournaments span four days and allow ample time to prepare each week, so be sure to familiarize yourself with the basics of building a lineup on FanDuel, the scoring setup, and advanced stats to know about the PGA.

Best of the Best

Dustin Johnson (FanDuel Price: $12,600 | FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: 7.5/1) - We haven't seen DJ since the Ryder Cup, but prior to that, he had finished 3rd at the TOUR Championship, 24th at the BMW, and 7th at the Dell Technologies Championship. He has fallen to 2nd in the Official World Golf Rankings but ranks 3rd in approach, 4th off the tee, and 13th in greens in regulation gained over the past 24 rounds. DJ has finished 1st, 5th, 35th, and 2nd here in the past.

Hideki Matsuyama ($11,400 | 15/1) - Hideki won here in 2016 but was 41st and 50th otherwise, with two withdrawals mixed in, as well. Hideki leads the field in strokes gained: approach, though, and he's second in greens in regulation gained. He's finished top-20 in six straight events.

Tony Finau ($10,800 | 18/1) - Finau ranks top-10 in strokes gained on par 5s, strokes gained: off the tee, and greens in regulation gained over the past 24 rounds on tour. Finau's past five finishes have all been top-15s (2nd at the Northern Trust, 4th at the Dell Technologies, 8th at the BMW Championship, 15th at the TOUR Championship, and 10th at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship). He finished 11th here last year.

Patrick Cantlay ($10,600 | 44/1) - Cantlay ranks 12th in approach, 3rd off the tee, and 4th in greens in regulation gained in our timeframe. He finished 15th here a year ago and has missed just 2 of 21 cuts in 2018, with 5 top-10s. If you aren't loading up on the studs, Cantlay makes for a solid option without breaking the bank.

Mid-Range Options

Adam Scott ($10,100 | 48/1) - Scott ranks 11th in approach and 4th in strokes gained on par 5s over the past 24 rounds. Scott finished 10th at THE CJ CUP and has played Sheshan seven times since 2006.

Billy Horschel ($9,500 | 75/1) - Horschel's recent stats are just too good to ignore, and he's still second in approach and ninth off the tee over his past 24 rounds. Horschel is cooling off (33rd and 67th the past two weeks after three straight top-threes), yet the price has dropped enough for us to go back to him.

Byeong-Hun An ($9,300 | 70) - An sits sixth in approach and has played Sheshan twice (63rd in 2016 and 19th in 2015). An finished just 41st last week at THE CJ CUP despite sitting near the bottom of the field in putts per green in regulation. He's still a negative putter on bentgrass, but it's his best surface, via FantasyNational.

Kyle Stanley ($9,000 | 60/1): Stanley can make up ground by hitting fairways here (4th in fairways gained) and greens (10th). He may not score well enough to win, but he's a safe bet with his recent ball-striking. Stanley finished fifth here last year, as well.

Low-Priced Picks

Eddie Pepperell ($8,600 | 70/1) - Pepperell ranks 34th in the OWGR and has been red hot of late, finishing 9th at the D+D Real Czech Masters, 56th at the Made In Denmark, 6th at the KLM Open, 2nd at the Portugal Masters, 44th at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, and 1st at the Sky Sports British Masters two weeks ago.

Julian Suri ($8,400 | 110/1) - Suri, 69th in the world, was 5th at the British Masters two weeks ago and 21st at the Web.com Tour Championship five weeks ago. Suri has three top-10 finishes in 2018 and had 2 wins and 8 total top-10 finishes in 2017, giving him some upside at a low cost.

Chez Reavie ($8,300 | 140/1) - Chez leads the field in fairways gained and is 10th in greens in regulation gained. He made good on that, finishing T7 last week at THE CJ CUP. He finished 24th here last year, as well.

Cheng-Tsung Pan ($8,200 | 70/1) - Pan ranks 7th in approach, 5th in fairways gained, and 12th in greens in regulation gained. Pan has cracked the top 100 of the OWGR rankings, thanks to solid-but-unspectacular results of late. Still, in a no-cut event, consistency can go a long way.
