High-Salaried Studs

Justin Thomas (DraftKings Salary: $11,400 | FanDuel Sportsbook Win Odds: +600) - What do we need to say? Thomas is likely to be popular on DraftKings this week, with good reason. Almost any statistical model will likely put him at the top, as he ranks 1st in birdies or better gained, 2nd in strokes gained: approach, 3rd in bogeys avoided, 14th on par 5s, and 15th off the tee. More to the point -- he's Justin freaking Thomas.

Daniel Berger ($10,400 | +1600) - It's been over a month since Berger saw action, and he'll look to cap off a terrific year that has thus far been a career peak. He's missed just one cut in the past 12 months, and even that on the number thanks to a poor closing stretch at the Memorial. He ranks 2nd in birdies or better gained, 4th in bogeys avoided, 5th in strokes gained: approach, 9th in strokes gained: par 5s, and 13th in strokes gained: off the tee.

Viktor Hovland ($9,700 | +1800) - With Thomas, Berger, and especially Abraham Ancer ($9,900 | +1600) all in good form above him, Hovland could be the overlooked name in this high priced range. He ranks 2nd on par 5s, 5th off the tee, 9th in birdies or better gained, 10th in bogeys avoided, and 18th in approach. Hovland has started his season with three top-15 finishes in four events, with his T47 at the ZOZO due mostly to a disastrous week on the greens. He's missed the cut in two tries at El Camaleon, and that should put more people onto Ancer and his two top 10 finishes here and give us a great leverage opportunity.

Mid-Salaried Options

Russell Henley ($9,300 | +2700) - Henley has been one of the best iron players in the world for the past couple of months, and the elite approach play provides a solid floor in any given week -- you'd have to go back to the PGA Championship in August to find Henley's last finish outside the top 30. He ranks first in strokes gained: approach but also in bogeys avoided, and he makes for a solid cash game option in either a balanced lineup build or paired with Thomas or Berger.

Corey Conners ($9,000 | +3100) - Like Henley, Conners has a high floor given his elite ballstriking profile. He ranks 2nd off the tee and 10th on approach, and with back-to-back top 10s at The Masters and the RSM Classic, he looks like a solid play in what could be a dead zone in price. Like Hovland, his course form (T75 and MC) could scare people off. Also like Hovland, he has improved enough on and around the greens to be dangerous just above every week.

Emiliano Grillo ($8,300 | +5500) - Grillo booked three top-15 finishes at El Camaleon before a T41 last year, and he's found some consistency worth riding over the past few months. His start to 2020 was a mess, with 8 missed cuts in his first 12 events of the calendar year. But since a couple of short weeks at Muirfield Village in July, Grillo has played the weekend in all but one event, and he rebounded from that missed cut in Houston with a T18 at Sea Island. He's lost two strokes or more with the putter in half of those events, so there is upside to come as he racks up consistently decent finishes.

Low-Priced Options

Adam Long ($7,900 | +5000) - After his breakthrough win in early 2019 as a massive longshot, Long has shown to be much more of a player than just a flash in a pan. That upside was on display at El Camaleon with a 63 on Thursday and a birdie-free 66 on Sunday to charge up to a tie for second place. He added another runner-up finish at the 3M Open over the summer and has three top-15 finishes in seven events of the new season.

Harold Varner ($7,800 | +7000) - Varner has alternated top-15 finishes with missed cuts in his last four, and if we catch him on the upswing this could be the type of course where he can get that first career win. He ranks 6th in approach, 11th in birdies or better gained, 18th in bogeys avoided, and 19th off the tee, and he has two top 10s to his name at this event. At this price, Varner is easy to fit into just about any lineup construction.

Keegan Bradley ($7,700 | +7000) - We know the deal with Bradley by now. If he putts to the field average, he'll very likely find himself in contention at some point during the week. If he putts really well, he may just win. He missed the cut here last year but has quality finishes on his Mayakoba resume, namely a T15 and T8 within the past couple of years. He ranks 3rd in approach, 7th on par 5s, and 17th off the tee in this field, and that consistent ballstriking should carry him after a T15 at the RSM despite losing 4.6 strokes with his putter.

Sepp Straka ($7,600 | +8000) - Straka has hot streaks in him, but what's more impressive recently is his consistency, having made the cut in six of his seven events of the new season. Three of those resulted in a top 25 finish, most notably a T5 in Houston. Eight of his last 12 rounds are in the 60s, and he ranks 5th in both birdies or better gained and strokes gained on par 5s.

Bargain Basement

Max Homa ($6,800 | +15000) - Homa is desperate for a quality finish, with just two events inside the top 40 since the restart in June. He was in solid form to start the year and had five straight top 25s (including three top 10s) in his final five events before the season was put on hold. The putter has really let him down when it comes to scoring, but some of the residual stats are holding steady relative to this field -- he's 12th in strokes gained: off the tee, 15th in bogeys avoided, and 20th in strokes gained on par 5s.

Cameron Percy ($6,400 | +32000) - After making the cut in his first four events of the 2020-21 season, Percy missed the weekend at the RSM Classic despite positive numbers in all four strokes gained metrics -- off the tee, approach, around the greens, and putting. Long term he ranks 17th in the approach stat and 24th in bogeys avoided.
