Tampa Bay Downs Horse Racing Picks for Monday 6/1/20
With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.
Starting at 12:50 p.m. EST today, we have eight races at Tampa Bay Downs. Using our projections as a guide, here's a look at some of the best bets.
As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.
(I will be referencing Equibase's Speed Figure, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions)
Lovely Arabella, Race 1
FD Racing Odds: 5/1
Despite the 5/1 odds, our models like Lovely Arabella to be victorious in the first race. The filly has seen her Speed Figure rise in three consecutive races, from 56 to 63 to a rock-solid 72 to end 2019. Though she doesn't have much recent form to get excited about, her odds make her a value pick, given her ability.
Betting favorite Langue Liee (9/5) is projected to finish third by numberFire. She's finished top-three in three of her four starts here since March, including a first-place effort on the first of May. The filly's Figures have been at 58 or higher in each of her last three. Little Natalia (8/1) is our projected runner-up. She's had back-to-back poor showings but showed the ability in a mid-April winning effort.
Adios, Race 2
FD Racing Odds: 6/1
numberFire's algorithm has Adios finishing third, but I like the mare's chances in this one. Though she hasn't raced since 2019, her last four outings saw her figures improve each time -- she posted 72 or higher in each, topping out at 83 in her last effort. Her recent workouts showed solid form.
Shikaka (2/1) is both our model's top pick and the betting favorite. I couldn't fault you for going in this direction. The filly's last race at the end of April left a lot to be desired, though her workout since shows that her form has picked back up. She posted four straight figures of 80-plus in her previous four races. Baci (7/2) and Bramble Berry (4/1) have had excellent form of late and must be considered.
Fancy Fox, Race 7
FD Racing Odds: 7/2
numberFire projects Fancy Fox to place first in the seventh race of the day. The mare has thoroughly disappointed in her last two races, but this could be a good bounce-back opportunity. Prior to her recent two, she has shown fantastic ability, posting Speed Figures of 78, 75, and 89 in her previous three efforts. Her recent workout was encouraging.
Fran's Salsa (5/1) and U Know I B Lion (3/1) both have form trending in the right direction. They should place well. Our models don't have I'm Nasty Too (4/1) finishing top-three, but I like her odds. Her jockey has a great success rate here.
