Kentucky Downs Horse Racing Picks for Saturday 9/11/21

Starting at 1:20 p.m. EST, we have 11 races at Kentucky Downs. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing.

As always, check for scratches and changes and monitor the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)

Venentian Harbor and Superstition, Race 6

FanDuel Racing Odds: 3/1 and 4/1

Race 6 is the $600K Grade 3 Mint Ladies Sprint on the turf for fillies and mares at 6 1/2 furlongs. Guaranteed Tip Sheet and the numberFire model project Venetian Harbor (3/1) to win ahead of Superstition (4/1).

Venetian Harbor has increased her speed figures in three consecutive starts, according to Horse Racing Radar. Superstition has a strong pedigree for the distance and surface and is capable of running swift fractions.

Constantia (5/1) has never missed the board at this distance with a pair of wins in four starts.

Fast Boat and Got Stormy, Race 8

FanDuel Racing Odds: 10/1 and 9/2

Race 8 is the $1 million Grade 3 FanDuel Turf Sprint Stakes at 6 furlongs. numberFire's algorithm projects Got Stormy (9/2) to take money and hit the board. He’s stepped up in the performance ladder in three straight races, per Horse Racing Radar. Imprimis (6/1) is numberFire's pick to win.

Top jockey Joel Rosario has won 11 of the 32 races at Kentucky Downs entering Saturday, and he’s riding Fast Boat (10/1). Guaranteed Tip Sheet likes his chances, and he’s scored in 10-of-25 on the grass.

Channel Cat and Arklo, Race 9

FanDuel Racing Odds: 9/2 and 3/1

Race 9 is the $1 million Grade 2 Calumet Turf Cup Stakes at 1 1/2 miles on the turf. Arklow (3/1) is the top pick of numberFire while we also have Zulu Alpha (6/1) and Tide of the Sea (6/1) hitting the board.

Arklow has Florent Geroux riding for EPO trainer Brad Cox, and those two have won 4-of-7 recent starts together.

Tide of the Sea (6/1) has increased his speed figures in three consecutive starts, according to Horse Racing Radar. Top jockey Luis Saez takes over to ride for EPO trainer Mike Maker. Tide of the Sea finished a close fourth as the favorite last month in the TVG Preview Turf Cup at 1 1/4 miles.

Channel Cat (9/2) ran a last-race speed figure of 116 -- his best in nearly two years. He finished fourth but won the Grade 1 Man o‘ War in May.
