Haskell Stakes Odds
Monmouth Park drew the field for the 2022 Haskell Stakes on July 20. Although Haskell Stakes live odds are expected to fluctuate up until post time, here are the morning line odds in post position order for the Haskell Stakes. Though these will move until post time, they will give a good idea of which horses should go off well-bet and which will be long shots.

Haskell Stakes Prep Results
The local prep races for the Haskell Stakes include the Long Branch and the TVG.com Pegasus. On May 14, Dash Attack won the Long Branch. Though he does not return for the Haskell, fourth-place Benevengo returns for it. Home Brew won the Pegasus on June 18. He does not come back to the Jersey Shore for the Haskell, though seventh-place King of Hollywood does. Though King of Hollywood did not have his best day in the Pegasus, he is already a winner at the local meet, having won an allowance at Monmouth on May 29.
In addition to local races, it is worth looking at the Triple Crown races and other Grade 1 Kentucky Derby preps in order to find horses likely to run well in the Haskell. Taiba, Cyberknife, White Abarrio, and Jack Christopher are all Grade 1 winners this year, marking them as the class of the field. Howling Time has also shown class this year, missing by only a nose to Cyberknife in the Matt Winn (G3) on June 12.
Haskell Stakes Contenders
Cyberknife: He was on the upswing approaching the Kentucky Derby, winning the Arkansas Derby (G1) with confidence. Though he finished a flat 18th in the Kentucky Derby, a gutsy victory in the Matt Winn (G3) marked this Brad Cox trainee’s return to form.
Taiba: Inexperience caught up with this talented colt in the Kentucky Derby, where he finished 12th. However, he romped easily in his debut maiden win at Santa Anita, and stretched out to a route nicely when winning the Santa Anita Derby (G1) on April 9.
One Time Willard: He will be a long shot in the Haskell, since all five of his starts have come against restricted company and his only win came against New Jersey-breds. However, he keeps Paco Lopez, a perennial high-percentage rider at Monmouth Park, and that NJ-bred maiden win did come against older.
Howling Time: A three-time winner, he finally showed up against graded company when he was nosed out in the Matt Winn last month. He needs another step forward, but his pace versatility and stamina pedigree make him an interesting pick.
King of Hollywood: Seventh and last in the Pegasus last time, he needs to improve to find the frame in the Haskell. However, his local allowance to win two back as well as his ability to win from on or off the pace suggest he has talent, and with 13 starts, he has the most experience in the field.
White Abarrio: Though he came up flat in Kentucky, finishing 16th, he bounced back nicely when a close second in the Ohio Derby (G3) last out. Between that performance and his Florida Derby win, this mile and an eighth trip may be just what this flashy gray prefers.
Jack Christopher: He has yet to lay a hoof wrong, stalking and taking over to win by open lengths in all four starts. Despite this raw talent, he has yet to try two turns and his pedigree on both sides raises serious questions about a mile and an eighth.
Benevengo: He came up flat over a sloppy track in the Long Branch to start the Monmouth meet, but over a dry track last out, he beat allowance-optional claiming horses on June 24, making him the only horse in the field with a victory against older open-company winners.
Haskell Stakes Past Winners Past Performances
The Kentucky Derby is a huge stepping stone to the TVG.com Haskell Stakes. Authentic, Maximum Security, American Pharoah, Big Brown, and War Emblem are some of the horses who won the Haskell and crossed the finish line first in the Derby. The Preakness Stakes is also productive, with Preakness winners Point Given, Rachel Alexandra, Lookin at Lucky, and Exaggerator coming back to win the Haskell. Belmont Stakes winner Touch Gold, Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Good Magic, and future Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Bayern have all won the Haskell Stakes.

Monmouth Park
New Jersey’s Monmouth Park is a popular thoroughbred venue famed as much for its horticultural beauty as for its racing, the carefully tended lawns popular with racegoers.
The famous $1 million TVG.com Haskell Invitational is run at Monmouth every year. Long a top-class staple of the summer season, to this day it continues to attract Triple Crown alumni and Breeders’ Cup candidates, especially those potentially heading to the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Monmouth Park is the traditional home of horse racing on the Jersey Shore. It sits less than four miles from Monmouth Beach and is less than 90 minutes from New York City, which opens up the park to a huge fan base of potential horseplayers and day trippers.
