Greg Bird hasn't been especially productive recently, and his low price tag is a reflection of that. He has been making some really strong contact this season, though, with a 48.4% hard-hit rate and 56.7% fly-ball rate.

He also ranks 34th in average exit velocity and 11th in average batted-ball distance among the 300-plus hitters with at least 10 batted balls over the past two weeks -- numbers that make it easy to look past his weak bottom-line numbers.

His matchup isn't an ideal one, but Rick Porcello did allow a pretty decent 32.1% hard-hit rate to left-handed hitters in 2016 and has given up a 40.7% hard-hit rate this year. Bird has done his best work against right-handed pitching over his young career, sporting a 48.2% hard-hit rate versus opposite-handed hurlers.
