Lance McCullers has done a terrific job limiting hard contact this season. Among the 228 pitchers who have allowed at least 100 batted balls on the year, he has allowed a bottom-50 average exit velocity and bottom-10 average batted ball distance.

He also has a strong 3.05 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA), and he has had little trouble punching out batters, recording a 28.0% strikeout rate and 12.6% swinging-strike rate.

Tonight's matchup is no gimme, as he takes on a Seattle Mariners team that ranks above the league average in wRC+ and strikes out at a below-average rate against righties. But Vegas expects McCullers to handle Seattle. The Houston Astros are Monday's biggest favorites (-215 moneyline) while the Mariners' 3.71 implied total is the day's lowest mark.
