Daily Fantasy Baseball: Positive Batted-Ball Regression Candidates for Week 5
Andrew McCutchen, OF, San Francisco Giants
Underlying stats show Andrew McCutchen to be one of baseball's most locked-in hitters, with the veteran stroking 68% hard-contact rate over the past two weeks while flashing a keen batting eye with his 23.4% walk rate.
But Cutch's surface results show only a .194 batting average over that span, in all likelihood courtesy of a slightly depressed .250 batting average on balls in play (BABIP) and 7.1% homer-per-fly rate. The luck for the San Francisco Giants' slugger could turn this week against soft competition like Clayton Richard, Mike Foltynewicz, and Matt Wisler, so even as his salary has crept up into the low $3,000s on FanDuel, McCutchen seems like a strong value play in Week 5.
