Sell Michael Taylor

It stood to reason that after a solid 2017 season, Michael Taylor would improve and become a valuable fantasy player for owners in 2018. So far, it hasn't happened.

In 45 games (170 plate appearances), the struggle has been real for Taylor. He's hitting .181/.249/.297 with just 3 homers and 9 RBIs, all while striking out 32.4% of the time. That strikeout rate has actually gone up a tick from last season's 31.7%. Yes, he is walking a bit more, up from 6.7% last year to 8.2% this year. But after slugging 19 homers and stealing 17 bases, Taylor seemed like a decent bet to be a 20/20 man in 2018.

He does have 11 steals, so he's providing a little bit of help in that category. And while a player with his speed is likely to have a higher BABIP than normal, he's hitting far too few line drives -- 20.5% line-drive rate last year to 14.6% this season -- and too many balls on the ground (54.2% ground-ball rate, compared to 42.9% last year). He's chasing 34.6% of pitches out of the zone, up from 30.2% last year and 28.5% in 2016.

This is a player trending in the wrong direction, and if you can't find someone to sell him to, it's time to let Taylor go.
