Aaron Nola, SP, Philadelphia Phillies

Aaron Nola has had a nice start to his career, and, as indicated by his 2.18 ERA, he appears to be putting it all together in 2018. And while the results have certainly been far better than in years past, his peripherals are not that different. In fact, his 3.35 SIERA isn't that far off from his career 3.49 mark.

While this likely says more about that fact that Nola was underrated earlier in his career, rather than pointing towards him being too overvalued in 2018, he still is not a top-of-the-pitching-pool kind of guy.

He will also be starting on the road against a Chicago Cubs team that ranks third in wRC+ against right-handed pitching. This includes excellent plate discipline stats, as the Cubs are top 10 in avoiding strikeouts (20.7%) and top 5 in forcing walks (9.7%) against right-handers.

With ERA regression looming and a tough matchup against the Cubs, Nola is hard to justify at his high price tag.
