One of the most productive members of the deadly Boston offense, J.D. Martinez leads the Majors in both home runs (34) and RBI (97). He's particularly dangerous against right-handed pitching, tied for first among qualifying hitters with a .450 wOBA and ranking second with a .364 ISO.

He's capable of doing serious damage against pitchers of any handedness, with a hard-hit rate of at least 47.0% and a soft-hit rate below 11.0% against both southpaws and righties.

Tonight, he brings those numbers into a great matchup. Right-hander Mike Hauschild is expected to take the mound for Toronto in what will be his first Major League start. He has only pitched 14 Big League innings in his career, accumulating a 4.36 xFIP.

That sample is too small to read into with much certainty, but his 4.07 xFIP in 19 Triple-A starts this year (as well as his 4.99 in 18 Triple-A starts last year) don't inspire much confidence in his ability to hit the ground running as a starter in the Majors. After all, he's facing one of the best hitters on one of the best hitting teams in all of baseball.
