Mookie Betts, OF, Boston Red Sox

Mookie Betts is an amazing and deserving AL MVP candidate. But even Mike Trout can go 0-for-4 on any given night. Such is the game of baseball.

This recommendation is less about Betts, who yesterday hit for 2018's first cycle. It is more about the fact that he presumably will be over-owned after such a performance, and that his matchup is far from ideal.

Dylan Bundy has held right-handed batters to a .299 wOBA this season. This includes an absolutely ridiculous 30.7% strikeout rate compared to just a 6.4% walk rate. With a 12.7% swinging-strike rate, Bundy's whiff potential gives Betts a much lower floor than he has on normal nights. And at his price, that's nothing something we want to pay up for tonight.
