Stud pitching upside generally comes from high-strikeout potential, and that is something that Justin Verlander offers no shortage of tonight.

Verlander's 33.7% strikeout rate is the second-highest on tonight's slate, and if we look at just pitchers with at least 15 innings under their belt in 2018, he moves into first, as one of only two with marks above even 26.6%. He will also be up against a Minnesota Twins squad that has struck out at a top-10 rate (23.3%) against right-handed pitching over the last 30 days.

It not only strikeouts that make Verlander deadly, either. His 2.75 SIERA is also the slate's best (minimum 15 innings pitched) by a huge margin, with the next-lowest coming in at 2.75. The Twins rank 17th in wRC+ against righties over the last 30 days, and they're in for a tough time against Verlander tonight.
