Which Bullpen Duos Are Best at Finishing Games?
Will Smith and Francisco Rodriguez, Milwaukee Brewers
ERA | FIP | HD/SV | K/9 | WHIP | ||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Will Smith | 3.48 | 2.95 | 29/1 | 12.1 | 1.36 |
2 | Francisco Rodriguez | 2.84 | 3.78 | 0/38 | 10.4 | 0.93 |
Will Smith is not a household name in the MLB, but he is tied with Brad Ziegler and Tyler Clippard for the league-lead in holds. He’s the only one of them that has a reliable closer to hand the ball to. Smith’s had a few rough outings in July that hurt his numbers immensely, but he has turned it around in August, letting up one run through six innings.
Francisco Rodriguez was the hottest closer at the start of the year, converting his first 15 save opportunities and not letting up a run until his 20th appearance. K-Rod had a rough July, too, but has rebounded in August with a 1.42 ERA and converting all seven of his save opportunities.
