4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 9/6/16

The Tampa Bay Rays may be a hard lineup to peg, but that doesn't limit their upside in a matchup against Yovani Gallardo. Which other teams should we target in MLB DFS?

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.

Now, let's get to the stacks. As always, we will not include today's game at Coors Field here. Coors is obviously great for DFS, but you likely don't need me to tell you that. Here are the other teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

Tampa Bay Rays

There might not be a more volatile and confusing lineup than that of the Tampa Bay Rays. This is an inspiring argument to get you to spend your ever-so-precious bankroll on them, right? Well, in case utter despair doesn't float your boat, a matchup with Yovani Gallardo should.

Given the Rays' abilities to bash baseballs when they make contact, a pitcher needs to be able to generate swings and misses to neutralize them. Gallardo's not that guy. His highest swinging-strike rate in a game this year is 10.3%, and his overall mark of 6.4% is higher than only Bartolo Colon and Doug Fister among pitchers who have thrown at least 90 innings. Adding in Gallardo's 11.9% walk rate is just icing on the cake at this point.

It's totally understandable that Brad Miller has been snagging so much attention for his second-half power surge. However, there's another guy on his team with better peripherals the past month.

LoMo ain't slumpin' no mo. Over the past 30 days, Logan Morrison has equal hard-hit and fly-ball rates at 40.6%, slightly edging Miller in both. This isn't to say that you shouldn't use Miller, but Morrison looks like the best value in this lineup.
