3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 9/6/19

Patrick Corbin has been unbelievably consistent in his last five starts, but faces a tough Braves lineup tonight. Should we fade him and look elsewhere on this slate?

While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to narrow down your shortlist of plays and avoid the suboptimal ones who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.

Let's check out three guys to consider fading on tonight's FanDuel main slate.

Patrick Corbin, P, Washington Nationals

FanDuel Price: $10,900

Patrick Corbin has had a fantastic season for the Washington Nationals after leaving the Arizona Diamondbacks in the offseason. The southpaw has a matchup tonight against the Atlanta Braves and their righty heavy lineup. Corbin has a nearly 50 point difference in wOBA against righties which bodes well for hitters like Ronald Acuna and Josh Donaldson.

With Clayton Kershaw ($11,700) available in a delightful matchup the San Francisco Giants, Corbin is best left on the bench.

Kris Bryant, 3B, Chicago Cubs

FanDuel Price: $4,300

In the midst of a playoff race, the Chicago Cubs are going to rely on Kris Bryant's bat to bring them back to October. However, Bryant is likely to be neutralized tonight against Zach Davies and the Milwaukee Brewers. Davies has held righties to a .204 wOBA and less than one home run per nine innings. Bryant sees his wRC+ drop to 118 against righties compared to 180 against lefties.

Consider saving money with Eugenio Suarez ($4,100) who has given lefties nightmares all year.

J.D. Martinez, OF, Boston Red Sox

FanDuel Price: $4,100

J.D. Martinez and the Boston Red Sox have not been able to replicate last year's magical run but they can cling to a glimmer of hope with a strong showing against the New York Yankees this weekend. That being said, Martinez is not worth starting against righty Domingo German. Martinez has a ludicrous .546 wOBA against lefties which has inflated his price despite his pedestrian .346 mark against righties. German has even splits but has pitched well as shown by his 1.15 WHIP.

Ageless wonder Nelson Cruz ($4,100) is worth a start against the Cleveland Indians.
