Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Adds: Week 10
It's the final week of the regular season in traditional rotisserie fantasy baseball leagues. Can you believe it? It feels like it just started, and we are nearly done. Wow.
Each week we will take a look at players who are rostered in fewer than 60% of Yahoo leagues and can help out your season-long squads. Remember, if you aren’t scouring the waiver wire, you are falling behind your league-mates.
Ryan Yarbrough - Tampa Bay Rays (SP)
Roster percentage: 54%
If you need some rotation help, Ryan Yarbrough of the Tampa Bay Rays could be very interesting.
We get a peek at the southpaw on Sunday, and he should be in a great spot to carve up a struggling Baltimore Orioles team. After getting his first win following John Curtiss, who served as the opener, Yarbrough was brilliant with 5 2/3 innings of one-run baseball. He'll get the traditional start on Sunday.
Later this week he lines up for a solid starting matchup against the New York Mets, a team much better versus righties, so look to add Yarbrough for the final week.
Garrett Cooper - Miami Marlins (1B/OF)
Roster percentage: 7%
So, 2020 is certainly no normal year. What's even stranger is that Garrett Cooper of the Miami Marlins has such low roster percentage this deep into the season.
Cooper is absolutely annihilating the baseball. Over the last week alone, he's smacked two home runs and put up a 1.086 OPS, but this is no short-term fluke. Over the last two weeks, he's piled up 15 runs and a .959 OPS.
Cooper will likely continue to hit in the middle of the order for Miami, so take a look at the slugging corner infielder/outfielder.
Eric Hosmer - San Diego Padres (1B)
Roster percentage: 50%
When trying to bunt a few weeks ago, Eric Hosmer broke his ring finger and missed a few weeks of action. Now he looks to be back and should be gearing up for the playoffs.
Prior his injury, Hosmer was enjoying quite the season, posting a .287 batting average and .874 slugging percentage with 8 home runs and 3 steals.
Given that #SlamDiego is in the postseason, volume should be there this week for Hosmer as the team tries to keep its stars locked in. If you need help at first base, consider the veteran.
Lewis Brinson - Miami Marlins (OF)
Roster percentage: 1%
Want someone who is basically free and could swipe some bases? Check out Lewis Brinson.
A former mega-prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers' system may finally be coming of age and making that Christian Yelich trade look not quite so awful. He's swiped bags in back-to-back games, and he's also thrown in a few long balls in the last two weeks.
Brinson's 30 at-bats across the last two weeks show he's in the lineup permanently, so consider him as a speed option.
