Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Adds: Week 9

The waiver wire. Free agent budgets (FAB). It's back, it's real and it's glorious.

With the 2021 baseball season in full swing, nailing the waiver wire and the players available are critical to beating out your league-mates.

Each week we will take a look at players who are rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo leagues and can help out your season-long squads. Remember, if you aren’t scouring the waiver wire, you are falling behind.

Mike Zunino, C, Seattle Mariners

Roster Percentage: 27%

With Seattle Mariners catcher Mike Zunino, it's generally a feast-or-famine type of output we have come to know and accept. And if you have rostered him recently, you've definitely been feasting.

Zunino has smacked 10 home runs on the season. While those haven't been with a ton of base runners on (he has just 20 RBI to his name), he's still providing plenty of punch at the dish.

The catcher position is always a thin one -- similar to tight end in fantasy football -- but if you can stomach the batting average volatility, Zunino is a worthwhile pickup.

Brady Singer, SP, Kansas City Royals

Roster Percentage: 48%

After a few rough outings in a row, Brady Singer of the Kansas City Royals bounced back with a huge effort against the hard-hitting Chicago White Sox. The righty whiffed seven over 6 1/3 innings, and he was all over the strike zone, firing 66 strikes in 102 pitches.

What makes Singer even more tantalizing is his called plus swinging-strike rate (CSW) -- it was at an elite clip of 32% in that White Sox outing. And despite Adam Eaton taking him yahtzee, Singer showed elite form.

Keep an eye on Singer, especially if your rotation needs a shot in the arm.

Hansel Robles, RP, Minnesota Twins

Roster Percentage: 18%

The ride on the closer carousel is always a bit of a precarious one, but Hansel Robles looks to be the guy right now for the Minnesota Twins.

Robles has recently garnered back-to-back saves. While he still could be in a timeshare with Taylor Rogers, Robles may see more opportunities as the right-hander.

If you are hunting for saves, Robles is a worthy add.

Alex Kirilloff, 1B/OF, Minnesota Twins

Roster Percentage: 49%

A wrist injury cost Alex Kirilloff some time, but after being activated Friday, the young slugger picked up right where he left off.

He's slotted in the middle of the Minnesota lineup, batting third Friday, and he thumped his way to two hits in his return. The hits should be of no surprise. Kirilloff owned a seven-game hit streak with four homers prior to the injury, and he should keep his middle-of-the-order spot, especially with Byron Buxton out.

Kirilloff has a big ceiling as a guy with a superb minor-league track record, and he's a great bat to pick up.
