3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for Monday 6/12/23

Stacking is an integral part of daily fantasy baseball. Correlation drives upside, giving your lineups a slate-winning ceiling when your stacks explode.

This piece will do the digging and the dirty work each day to determine which stacks are worth rostering on FanDuel's main slate. While we want upside, we also need to factor in game theory, especially in a sport as random as baseball.

Our MLB DFS heat map is a quick way to get a feel for the overall slate and which offenses are in a good spot. You can also check out our daily fantasy baseball projections to identify the slate's best bats.

Let's look at the top stacks for this main slate.

Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox are taking on the Colorado Rockies today. The game isn't at Coors, but you wouldn't know that from looking at Boston's implied total. The Red Sox boast a slate-leading 5.96 implied total in a date with Connor Seabold.

Seabold, a righty, has a 5.00 SIERA over 69 career innings, including a 4.99 SIERA in 47 2/3 MLB frames in 2023. He's striking out just 16.7% of hitters this season and is allowing a juicy 46.1% fly-ball rate.

The Red Sox have only two bats salaried above $3,200. Their two high-salaried sticks -- Masataka Yoshida ($3,600) and Rafael Devers ($3,700) -- are both excellent options and will have the platoon advantage versus Seabold. Devers is swinging it a lot better than his .335 wOBA indicates as he's sporting a 40.2% hard-hit rate, 42.5% fly-ball rate and .375 expected wOBA (xwOBA).

Jarren Duran ($2,800) was in the leadoff spot last night versus a right-hander. He's easy to love at his salary if he's atop the order once again. Alex Verdugo ($3,200) is Boston's top-projected bat today, according to our model, while Adam Duvall ($2,800) and Justin Turner ($2,900) are two other modest-salaried hitters worth checking out.

Triston Casas ($2,500) is a solid value play. Our model ranks him as the 10th-best point-per-dollar bat.

Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers are one of the game's elite offenses, and they bring a 5.20 implied total -- the night's second-best mark -- into a clash with Tyler Anderson.

Anderson's numbers have fallen off in 2023, and he's holding a 5.76 SIERA, which is a career-worst clip. His 14.5% strikeout rate is another career-worst number, as are his 10.7% walk rate and 46.6% fly-ball rate. He's clearly struggling, and the Rangers can take advantage.

Corey Seager ($4,200), Adolis Garcia ($3,800) and Marcus Semien ($4,100) offer gobs of upside. Seager, despite a lefty-lefty matchup, slots in as Texas' top-projected hitter, per our algorithm. He's got a .407 wOBA, 50.0% hard-hit rate and 42.9% fly-ball rate in a small sample in the split this campaign.

Josh Jung ($3,400) is one of my favorite plays of the slate. He's massacring southpaws this year to the tune of a .417 wOBA and 53.1% hard-hit rate.

Jonah Heim ($3,300) and Mitch Garver ($3,300) need to be on our radar, too, while Robbie Grossman ($2,800) would offer some much-needed cap relief if he's in the lineup.

Philadelphia Phillies

Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Tommy Henry has pretty quickly become someone we're stacking against in most of his starts, and we should be all over the Philadelphia Phillies' offense tonight.

Henry has recorded an ugly 14.3% strikeout rate this season. He's surrendered a 44.6% fly-ball rate and 1.59 homers per nine. He's not having much success against either side of the plate, so we have a ton of flexibility with the Phils, who are showing a 5.02 implied total.

Our model ranks Kyle Schwarber ($3,500) as the slate's number-one overall hitter, with Nick Castellanos ($3,400) right behind him. Schwarber definitely loses some of his shine in lefty-lefty matchups, but with Henry striking out a mere 6.1% of the 49 lefties he's faced this year, Schwarber's biggest worry in the split isn't that much of a concern today. Castellanos owns a .383 wOBA with the platoon advantage this year.

Trea Turner ($3,000) figures to be super chalky in this matchup. He's got the fifth-highest projection by our numbers, giving Philly three of the night's top-five sticks, and while he's slumped so far this season, Turner is a top-shelf power/speed threat when he's right. He can get right tonight.

Bryce Harper ($3,600), J.T. Realmuto ($2,800), Alec Bohm ($2,900) make a lot of sense, as well. Edmundo Sosa ($2,300) has to be on the value radar if he gets a start, and the same goes for Josh Harrison ($2,100).
