3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Hitters to Avoid on 6/21/16

Lorenzo Cain isn't worth his price tag tonight. Who else should you avoid?

As is the case in most daily fantasy sports, finding information on players you might want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

While you can get away with a zero from a hitter in daily fantasy, you certainly don't want to target guys whose matchups aren't enticing.

Here are three hitters you may want to lessen your exposure to or even fade altogether on Tuesday.

Lorenzo Cain, OF, Kansas City Royals

FanDuel Price: $3,300

If you read this article regularly, you might start to think I have something against Lorenzo Cain. He has been a member of the landmines several times this season. However, today he makes the list simply because of the Royals’ right-hander has had difficulty with tough righty pitchers, and that is once again coming up tonight against Corey Kluber.

Kluber is back to dominant pitching for the Tribe, and Cain is likely going to have some trouble with him tonight. On the season, right-handed hitters own a wOBA of .256 against Kluber in 2016, and their strike out rate is 26.7. Kluber is holding righties to a hard hit rate of just 27.1 percent.

Cain, on the other hand, has struggled some with right-handed pitching this season. His wOBA against them is .289 over 203 at-bats, and his strikeout rate against righties is 24.4 percent. His isolated power also drops to.103 against righties this season, compared to .241 against lefties.

Jackie Bradley Jr., OF, Boston Red Sox

FanDuel Price: $3,000

The Red Sox are back at home on Tuesday night to face off against Chris Sale and the White Sox. Jackie Bradley is off to a great start, but the lefty faces landmine status tonight against one of the game's most dominant lefties.

Lefties own a wOBA of .262 this season against Sale and .238 in his career. Lefties’ strikeout rate is 26.5 percent against Sale this season, and their hard hit rate is only 14.7 percent.

Bradley has a wOBA of .347 against lefties this season over 49 at-bats. He could be improving some, but his wOBA against lefties is .316 for his career, and he owns a 27.1 strikeout rate against them as well. Bradley has hit only one of his 12 homers against left-handed pitchers this season, and this has affected his ISO, which is .163 compared to .310 against righties.

Jeff Francoeur, OF, Atlanta Braves

FanDuel Price: $2,000

With the injury to Mallex Smith, Jeff Francoeur is likely going to be in the Braves’ lineup more over the next six to eight weeks. His minimum price is potentially going to attract some daily fantasy baseball owners to him tonight on Tuesday’s big slate, but against the likes of Jose Fernandez, it may be best to lay off Francoeur despite his cheap price point.

Fernandez has been absolutely dominant against righty hitters this season. They have a wOBA of just .214 against him this season, and he owns a strikeout rate of 43.6 percent against them this year. His FIP is 1.15 against righties, and his hard hit rate drops 10 points to 28.9 percent against righties this season.

Francoeur has a wOBA of just .231 against righties over 68 at-bats this season. His strikeout rate against them is 22.5 percent, and his ISO drops to .074 compared to .152 against lefties. With Fernandez on the hill for the Marlins, don't be swayed by the cheap price, regardless of where he is hitting in the lineup.
