4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 7/29/16

The Padres have obliterated left-handed pitching this year. What other offenses should we target today in MLB DFS?

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.

Now, let's get to the stacks. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

San Diego Padres

Just in case you weren't happy enough that it was Friday, you get the San Diego Padres against a lefty tonight. They're the baddest mamma jammas in the land with a 119 wRC+ versus southpaws, and Brandon Finnegan's peripherals are ripe for the stacking. Praise be unto our big-bopping overlords.

Finnegan has had some decent starts in his first full season in the rotation, but they've all been surrounded by struggles. His SIERA is 5.30 -- largely thanks to his 11.5% walk rate -- and opponents are making hard contact 37.6% of the time. The walk rate gives a stack a lofty floor before the hard-hit rate comes through to bust open the ceiling. He could be in for a long night against an offense built to bully lefties like this one.

It's generally bad practice to target a dude with Derek Norris' .268 wOBA, but he can still throttle left-handed pitching. Norris' hard-hit rate and fly-ball rate against lefties are both 44.6%, and his strikeout rate dips to 20.4%. Those are some dope numbers for our purposes, and the fact that they eliminate one of the more offensively-challenged slots on the board is just an extra dose of loveliness.
