Mets' Jacob deGrom (back) exits intrasquad scrimmage after first inning
New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom left Tuesday's intrasquad scrimmage early after experiencing tightness in his back.
deGrom was on the mound Tuesday in what was scheduled to be his second-to-last outing before getting the start for the Mets on opening day. deGrom was expected to pitch much longer but was pulled after one inning (2 strikeouts) and replaced by lefthander Justin Wilson. The Mets have not provided any additional details at this time.
Assuming deGrom is good to go by opening day, our models project him for 78.3 innings pitched with a 2.90 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 96 strikeouts, 18 walks, and 6 wins.
