Ji-Man Choi (groin) likely going on Rays' injured list

Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi (groin) will likely be placed on the injured list, per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.

What It Means:

Choi tweaked his groin on Wednesday and hasn't played since. “I don’t think that he necessarily felt that great today,” Rays manager Kevin Cash said after Thursday's game. “We were hoping for a little bit better turnaround throughout the game with getting treatment." The team should provide an update on Friday. Choi missed the first six weeks of the season while recovering from arthroscopic right knee surgery and he has been limited to just 15 games. Yandy Diaz has filled in as the Rays' primary first baseman in place of Choi.

Choi is averaging 11.5 FanDuel points per game and slashing .304/.448/.522 with 2 homers and 11 RBI over 58 plate appearances. His xOPS (.428) is fifth-best and Choi's xwOBA (.408) is tied for 12th among all hitters with 50-plus plate appearances this season.
