Joey Wendle on Rays' bench Thursday afternoon
Tampa Bay Rays infielder Joey Wendle is not in the starting lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Gerrit Cole and the New York Yankees.
What It Means:
Wendle started on Wednesday but this is his second time out of the lineup in the last three games. Yandy Diaz is shifting to third base and batting third on Thursday while Ji-Man Choi makes a start on first base and bats second. Austin Meadows is batting cleanup as Tampa Bay's designated hitter. Nelson Cruz is out again with a foot injury.
