Red Sox land Kyle Schwarber from Nationals for prospect
The Boston Red Sox acquired outfielder Kyle Schwarber from the Washington Nationals for right-handed pitching prospect Aldo Ramirez.
Schwarber has been on the IL with a hamstring strain since July 2 but he's been able to jog and took batting practice recently. The 28-year-old registered a .910 OPS in 72 games for the Nationals this season. He will likely work primarily as a designated hitter for Boston once healthy.
Schwarber is averaging 12.4 FanDuel points per game this season while slashing .253/.340/.570 with 25 homers and 53 RBI across 303 plate appearances. He ranks in the top five percent of the league in xSLG (.571) and is in the upper 90th percentile in xwOBA (.393) and hard hit percentage (52.0)
