Josh VanMeter sitting for Diamondbacks Monday night

Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Josh VanMeter is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against left-hander Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

What It Means:

The Diamondbacks are giving VanMeter a breather against a southpaw. Josh Rojas is replacing VanMeter on the hot corner and hitting fifth Monday night.

numberFire’s models project Rojas for 9.6 FanDuel points and he has a $2,500 salary on Monday’s slate. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Diamondbacks have an implied total of 3.1 runs, which is the lowest in the majors on Monday. Kershaw is registering a 30.1 strikeout percentage and a 4.5 walk percentage (top 4% of the league) this season, with a 3.16 xERA and a .273 xwOBA.
