Nationals receive MacKenzie Gore from Padres in package
The Washington Nationals acquired left-hand pitcher MacKenzie Gore (elbow) from the San Diego Padres in a package for outfielder Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell.
Gore was placed on the injured list last week with left elbow inflammation and soreness, but he's expected to be able to avoid surgery and could be back before the end of the season. Once fully healthy, the 23-year-old southpaw should be entrenched in the Nationals' rotation.
Gore averaged 22.3 FanDuel points in 13 starts (70 innings) for the Padres this season while recording a 4.50 ERA (5.17 xERA) and 1.47 WHIP with a 23.3% strikeout rate and a 12.0% walk rate.
