Jacob deGrom (side) expected to miss first week of Rangers' spring training
Texas Rangers pitcher Jacob deGrom (side) is not expected to pitch during the first week of spring training.
According to general manager Chris Young, deGrom will throw off the mound on Monday or Tuesday but will be held out of any future game participation in the early portion of spring training. “He’s feeling really good,” said Young when asked about deGrom's current status. “He’s made a lot of improvement. And he was throwing before he got here, so I think he will catch back up quickly. He was sort of ahead of schedule to where he’s been in the past.”
Expect deGrom to pitch in a potential intrasquad game if the 34-year responds well this week. Per fantasysp.com, deGrom's current average draft position in yearly fantasy leagues stands in the middle of the second round.
