Anthony Volpe batting ninth for Yankees to begin career
New York Yankees infielder Anthony Volpe is starting at shortstop and batting ninth on Opening Day versus right-hander Logan Webb and the San Francisco Giants.
Volpe will begin his MLB career at the bottom of the batting order, as expected. The 21-year-old is the youngest player to start for the Yankees at shortstop since Derek Jeter. DJ LeMahieu will hit leadoff and play second base while Gleyber Torres works as the designated hitter. Oswaldo Cabrera, Aaron Judge, and Giancarlo Stanton will start across the outfield, with Aaron Hicks available off the bench.
numberFire's models project Volpe ($2,400) for 9.3 FanDuel points on Opening Day. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Yankees' implied total is 3.67 and the game total is a pitcher-friendly 6.5.
