Pirates place Tucupita Marcano (knee) on 60-day IL

The Pittsburgh Pirates placed infielder Tucupita Marcano on the 60-day injured list Tuesday with a right knee ligament injury.

What It Means:

Marcano was carted off the field during Monday's game after injuring his knee. The Pirates called up infielder Alika Williams from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday in a corresponding roster move. Nick Gonzales will replace Marcano on second base and bat seventh on Tuesday versus left-hander Blake Snell and the San Diego Padres.

numberFire’s models project Gonzales ($2,800) for 7.3 FanDuel points on Tuesday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Pirates' implied total is third-lowest on the board at 3.34 and the game total is 8.5. Snell has a 2.67 ERA and 3.91 xERA this season, with a 33.5% hard-hit rate, 31.6% strikeout rate (top 92nd percentile of MLB), and 9.7% walk rate (bottom 6th).
