Sam Huff sitting for Rangers Thursday

Texas Rangers catcher Sam Huff is not in the lineup on Thursday afternoon against right-hander Touki Toussaint and the Chicago White Sox.

What It Means:

Huff started at catcher and went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Wednesday's dominant victory over the White Sox, but he will take a seat for Thursday's matinee. Mitch Garver will catch for Max Scherzer and bat eighth. Corey Seager will shift to designated hitter while Josh Smith will start at shortstop and bat eighth.

numberFire’s models project Garver ($2,700) for 8.5 FanDuel points on Thursday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Rangers' implied total is second-highest on the board at 5.51 and the game total is 9.0. Toussaint has a 3.50 ERA in front of a 4.53 xERA this season, with a 37.5% hard-hit rate, 19.2% strikeout rate, and 15.2% walk rate (bottom 1st percentile of MLB).
