Red Sox ink closer Liam Hendriks to 2-year deal

The Boston Red Sox are signed free agent closer Liam Hendriks to a two-year contract.

What It Means:

Hendriks will link up with the Red Sox on a two-year deal, but may not be available to pitch for the team until the 2025 season. He could become the team's closer at that point if they decide to move on from incumbent closer Kenley Jansen during or after the 2024 season.

Hendriks battled back from Stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma last year and still managed to suit up for the Chicago White Sox, but unfortunately suffered an elbow injury after returning. He notched a whopping 75 combined saves in his previous two seasons with Chicago.
