Robert Covington, F, Philadelphia 76ers
DraftKings Salary: $4,700
We've already noted that Robert Covington is a breakout candidate in season-long fantasy hoops, and he has been a consistently solid NBA player since the 2014-15 season, his second year in the league. He's scored at least 12.6 points with 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.4 swipes, and 2.0 assists in each of the past four seasons.
That is the type of consistency that we love to see. The Philadelphia 76ers forward averaged 27.5 DraftKings points per game last year, and despite that, his 2018-19 salary opens at just $4,700. That number marks his low salary of last season, so it seems like DraftKings is just begging you to use him, doesn't it?
Well, there may be a reason. He didn't match up well against the Boston Celtics last year, topping 20 DraftKings points in just one of the Sixers' four meetings with them. Our projections for tonight, however, show him bouncing back in a big way.
Our models have Covington down for 11.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, and a handful of peripheral stats that will boost his output to 28.2 DraftKings points, or a value of just under 6.0 points per $1,000 -- good for the best projected value on the slate. If you're feeling reluctant to use him in cash games, it's understandable given his performances against the Celtics last year, but his upside is just too good to not give him a go in some tournament lineups tonight.
