Calling on Tyreke Evans
Not only did the Indiana Pacers suffer a massive blow with the loss of Victor Oladipo for the rest of the season, but so did all hoops fans. Oladipo is an exciting star in the league, and you never want to see an injury interrupt a youngster’s rising career.
In his absence, Tyreke Evans appears to be the guy in line to receive the largest bump, and we’re all familiar with Evans’ ability to fill up the stat sheet. During his stint in Memphis last season, Evans averaged 19 points, five boards, five assists, and a steal in 30 minutes a game.
Averaging about 20 minutes a game over his last seven, Evans has reached at least five-times value in four contests. With his new role likely yielding around 30 minutes, Evans is going to be a popular roster move.
While his price tag has hung out in the $4,000 range over the last month or so, we can expect Evans’ salary to jump, but likely not enough to scare us off. At least not initially.
The Pacers take on the Grizzlies, Warriors, Wizards, and Magic over their next four.
And most importantly: get well soon, Victor Oladipo.
